Youngkin Launches School Choice Advocacy Group Targeting 20 States

Former Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin launched a conservative policy group called Empowering America’s Parents, focused on expanding awareness of the federal Education Freedom Tax Credit, WTOP reported on August 5, 2026. It is his first major move since leaving office in January.

WTOP reported the scholarship tax credit has been adopted in 30 states, and that the group plans to target the 20 remaining states through a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign, with particular emphasis on Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

Internal planning documents indicate the group will “aggressively target persuadable voters, primarily in the suburbs, who support school choice,” according to the report.
